In the studio now
Skirting table
First station for an incoming box. Seconds, vegetable matter, and tags come off here before a fleece is washed or logged on the queue.
Mini wooden drum carder
UncleKolya-style mini carder. Wooden frame, batts about 21 × 55 cm. Opens and aligns washed fiber for spinning and blending.
Hand carders
Small lots, color blending.
Wool combs
Turns locks into top and pulls out short bits and VM.
Ashford blending board
Controlled color and texture boards.
E-spinner
Electric spinning for production days.
Drop spindle
Portable spinning and fine lots.

Purchasing next week. A treadle wheel beside the e-spinner so two kinds of spinning can happen in the same studio.
Panda 3200 RPM spin dryer (22 lb)
Water extractor, not a heat dryer. Model PANSP22 / PANSP23B. Stainless drum, 110V, gravity drain into a bucket. Washed fleece goes in mesh bags; the spin pulls the water out so racks and a fan only have to finish the job. About $175–$185 at Home Depot or Walmart.
Wool picker
Opens washed locks and knocks out VM before the fiber hits the drum carder. That protects the carder cloth and speeds every job in the 50/50 queue.
Ballpark: mini swing picker about $875; full Brother / Patrick Green–style swing picker about $1,200. An industrial opener is too big for a garage.
